Why do dog's try/like to lick lotion you put on your hands?

Just curious...it's quite annoying....anyone know the answer to this crazy canine conundrum?Why do dog's try/like to lick lotion you put on your hands?
It's a bonding thing. Most species of mammals indulge in some kind of mutual grooming: Horses nibble each others' backs, wolves kiss, primates run their fingers through each others' fur. The 'offending substance,' the lotion, is almost just a pretext for the licking. Your dog is saying, ';Hey, I like you, and I like the way things are between us...let's keep it like this, OK? (Here, let me get that nasty stuff off of you.)';

But if you don't like it, keep your hands out of reach until the lotion's had a chance to be absorbed...then pet him. Remember, dogs don't have hands...so when he licks you, he's just trying to 'pet' you back!Why do dog's try/like to lick lotion you put on your hands?
Because they think it smells weird and have just GOT to taste it!
I figure they probably think the location doesn't belong there. They are use to smelling the person's scent %26amp; they think they are cleaning you up!! Helping you out. Doing you a favor!!

Dogs are really smart if you see things their way.

They have no idea what lotion is or why we put it in ourselves!!
I think they like the smell of all the emollients. My youngest dog grabbed a $12.00 tub of some Avon super moisturizer cream tore the lid off and with her prehensile tongue ate 6 oz of some very good skin cream, with no ill effects except her breath smelled like hand cream for a couple days
smell
They like the taste.
probably they r just curious, because they have a sense of smell and they see you using it and they must think it is something taht must either smell of taste good
they like the smell,so they think its food.
